Local governments have a recognized, traditional authority and responsibility to regulate land use within their jurisdiction, including use for oil and gas drilling. Development should be in a reasonable manner in and around not to have adverse land use impacts upon surrounding properties, urban or rural.

Surface estate owners have certain legal rights and privileges, including the right to have the mineral estate developed in a reasonable manner and to have adverse land use impacts on their property, associated with the development of the mineral estate, mitigated through compliance with these regulations.

All information provided to the COGCC should also be available to local community development departments, and planners.

Eddie Mirick Yes hundreds of active sites, We hear of issues when there are failures in the systems or injuries or fatalities, applications are posted in local news papers and USR’s are also posted in local news paper but does not always reach concerned parties or even vested interests.

Eddie Mirick Oil and Gas Operations are putting more effort into reporting to all concerned issues relevant to the sites they are operating it should be the responsibility of the site operators to report to the COGCC and the local officials in and around all Oil and Gas sites and facilities. Reporting to the local community development office and local news paper, and web sites.
